They won the space for six weeks after pitching their shop plans in the competition, Free Pop-Up.
Finchittida Finch has attracted celebrity attention, with R’n’B artist Ashanti wearing one of their designs.
The sisters live and work together and say that being twins inspires their work.
“We’re mirror-twins,” Lisa explained to Arts London News. “One is left-handed, one is right-handed, one has a birthmark on the left cheek and the other on the right cheek.”
The UAL graduates chose their degrees to compliment each other, with a view to one day setting up a joint creative business.
Tida studied BA Textile Design at Chelsea College of Art and Design and Lisa studied BA Graphic and Media Design at London College of Communication.
Turning print into jewellery
They collaborated on all their university projects, enabling them to swap skills and teach each other what they had learned.
In Tida’s final year project, she decided to turn one of her print designs into a jewellery piece to form part of her final collection.
“One of us is left-handed, one is right-handed, one has a birthmark on the left cheek and the other on the right cheek.” Lisa Finch, LCC graduate
The piece received a lot of attention and Finchittida Finch was created as a result.
Finchittida Finch was a runner-up in the competition. The first prize of free shop space for three months was won by London Loves LA, an online American vintage boutique.
The twins’ second jewellery collection has been designed, as well as a selection of new homeware pieces.
The pop-up shop is at Unit 7, Boxpark Shoreditch and will be open until February 17.
