Jazzy vibes at Nolias 11

Atmospheric Dining at Nolias 11 [Nolias 11 website]

Just a few minutes walk from Southwark tube station Nolias 11 is a small but cosy restaurant and jazz bar. With an unusual but surprisingly tasty cuisine of Malaysian and French the choices are endless.

What’s even more attractive about Nolias 11 is the ‘Take Five’ promotion menu. From 5pm to 7pm a selection of food and drinks are only a fiver. So if you’re planning on an early dinner and you happen to be in the area Nolias 11 is definitely the place to go.

Every weeknight there is a different event that takes place in the jazz club. Mondays are student jam nights which are hosted by musicians from the London College of Contemporary music, with drink deals of £2.50 if you bring a student card. Additionally, on a Tuesday evening from 8.30pm Adam Gerry hosts Melodiya Collective.  He is known as a “talented, lyrical magician” and you will be amazed at how he makes poems on the spot.

Wednesday night at Nolias 11 is one you cannot afford to miss. On this night Nolia herself presents Mamas Jamm Night where she is pleased to encourage musicians to sing with her or alone. Her incredible and unbelievable voice will take your breath away. Nolia’s talented and world wide known daughter Zoe Devlin takes over the stage from 9pm every Thursday with James Pearson, the artistic director from Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.

Friday evenings at Nolias 11 presents Alex Hutton who is an established pianist on the London Jazz scene. On this night the audience is welcomed by classical and contemporary jazz from the Alex Hutton trio.

Nolias 11 will not fail to offer you a chilled and spirited night. With main courses only starting at £5 and £3.50 for a side dish it is hard to refuse not to take a night out at this friendly and pleasant spot.

Nolias 11, 56 Stamford Street, London, SE1 9LX. Opening hours: Monday to Sunday 12pm – 1am
