MW nail bar, tucked away in Spitalfields Market is the place to go for all grooming enthusiasts who want some thing a little different to the usual uninspiring white walls of a beauty parlour. The concept is flying high in the 1970s – from the music and outfits to the colour scheme it’s like being in a time warp.

The entire interior is created to have the appearance of being inside a retro and very glamorous aircraft; including overhead storage and portal windows, all of which are actually taken from a plane made in the 1970s. Friendly and personal service starts as soon as you’re met by your air hostess with your ‘boarding pass’ and asked to wait in one of their first class seats.

This place attracts a lot of attention: there’s no end of inquisitive peering from passers by, but its not just your average Londoner that loves this quirky spot for beautifying, super star Rita Ora gets her talons done here too, and just earlier on in the year picked this as the hot spot to have her MTV interview done.

The prices are reasonable with shaping and polishing costing £16, a great selection of packages catered to whatever occasion, an extensive range of men’s grooming and starting at just £3 a nail for unique nail art designs it gives you the excuse to get into that east London creativity.

Not even open for two years, MW nails has already received rave reviews, just this September ASOS magazine dubbed it “a quirky, retro London nail bar, complete with comfy seats and overhead lockers. Double take worthy nail art is offered by stewardesses. First Class!”

This would be a perfect spot to come and indulge on your own if you’re looking for some ‘me’ time but is even better in a group, the giggling packs of gal pals at every table create an almost slumber party atmosphere; this is a nail bar where everyone is having fun.

Though MW nails is popular and busy most days, there is also a High Holborn branch and opening times are pretty late. From Wednesday to Friday you can pop in until 9pm and they often have stand-by appointments.
