A unique showroom displaying a selection of original works by BA and MA graduates is open at the University of the Arts headquarters in High Holborn.

The exhibition space, created and managed by the Student Enterprise and Employability service (SEE), aims to showcase and sell UAL students’ and graduates’ work from a full range of disciplines.

The newly refurbished showroom, launched at the beginning of October, displays art, ceramics, jewellery, fashion and film.

Victoria Fabbri, SEE events and showcasing Manager, said: “The exhibition has been curated by Natalie Stevens from our team, and we have worked with graphic design agency Alphabetical to brand the space.

“Work was selected from students and graduates that have taken part in other showcasing opportunities through UAL”, Fabbri added.

Long-standing Venture

The idea behind the showroom is that the longstanding venture will help support graduates and give them a platform to build their career from.

Every piece of work on display has a ‘Quick-Response’ or QR code that links to the student’s portfolio profile on ‘Showtime’, UAL’s online gallery that features up-and-coming artists.

The QR code should help promote the student’s work further and market them to potential buyers and art enthusiasts.

Fabbri said: “Currently we are not taking any commission from work sold.

“The QR code can be scanned on a smart phone and therefore sales go directly to the artist or designer. We have already heard that quite a few sales have been made, so it is proving successful so far”, Fabbri added.
