UAL alumni light up London Fashion Week
London Fashion Week is officially in full swing and, once again, the twice annual event has been dominated by UAL fashion design alumni.
From Febuary 14-18 London’s up and coming designers have been showcasing their collections at the world renowned event, spread across the capital’s favourite fashion spots.
Flying the fashion flag for UAL today were design heavyweights Christopher Kane, Roksanda Ilincic and Antonio Berardi, who all attended CSM, showing alongside prestigious fashion houses such as Tom Ford and Burberry Prorsum.
Other UAL alumni to showcase over the weekend included Royal Favourite Emilia Wickstead and world famous LCC graduate Henry Holland, whose show on February 15 at the Old Sorting Office had been widely anticipated.
Matthew Williamson, who graduated from CSM in 1994, also showcased on Sunday with a collection that encapsulates “a bohemian spirit and a laid back sense of glamour,” according to the LFW official website.
There are still upcoming shows tomorrow and this evening from more CSM graduates including: Simone Rocha, Barbara Casasola, Meadham Kirchhoff and red carpet maverick Osman who has dressed the likes of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and Katy Perry.
One of the highlights of this year’s LFW was the MA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins showcase.
It is the only course that shows on the official schedule of London Fashion Week and the MA Fashion graduates are credited with actively influencing fashion today.
Trends spotted across the weekend were electric blue, metallic leather, beanie hats, leather shirts and knife pleats as well as many designers opting to use graphic eyeliner on the models.
