UAL talent: Armenoui Kasparian Saraidari

Everyday Arts London News aims to showcase a talent from within University of the Arts. If you are interested in being featured, get in touch.

Today photographer Armenoui Kasparian Saraidar takes centre stage.

Greek photographer Armenoui Kasparian Saraidari is completing her second year in MA Photography at CSM this year.

Her final project, Tracing Back, was inspired by her upbringing in Greece to Armenian parents, and is a tribute to her ancestors who migrated to Greece.

For the project, Armenoui uses her family’s old portraits and objects as she explores the history of the Armenian diaspora, who survived the 1915 Armenian genocide and settled down in Greece in the 1920s.

She is interested in the impact of photographic material in the portrayal of genocide and is currently researching how photographic archives function in the space of the collective memory.
