Trendspotter: Beanies

Spotted at CSM

Approaching Central St Martins, it was hard to focus on anything other than the wintery weather and the sea of beanie hats floating up from King’s Cross station.

The beanie hat, which is also called the ‘bobcap’ or ‘stocking cap’, can be worn in various ways, easily creating a diverse style. A beanie can be worn loosely or can be tightly fitted depending on your individual style.

Beanie hats have become extremely fashionable over the years and with celebrities like Russell Brand, Johnny Depp and Rihanna donning them it is no surprise that they have become an essential urban-chic accessory.

The beanie is an easy and inexpensive option to freshen-up any outfit, and as well as being bang on trend this season, they keep you warm in the current sub-zero temperatures.

Many major high street retailers are stocking beanies this season: Topshop and River Island stock a range of beanies starting from £10, ASOS from £7 and Urban Outfitters from £5.

This statement hat adds depth to the most simple of outfits and is a trend that will be around well into the spring season.
